  • Morning line

It means the odds at which a horse will start, according to the track handicapper.

  • Across the board

A wager on a horse to place, show, and win. The bettor wins three ways if the horse wins, two ways (place and show), and one way (losing the win and place bets) if the horse comes in second or third. Actually, there are three bets.
